Coding For Kids!
I don’t know about you, but I feel that learning has become much more exciting nowadays than it was when I was younger.
There are so many new resources available which not only make learning a much more engaging experience but that also offer the opportunity to learn new skills.
Our eldest has just started to express an interest in coding, an area that I have no experience whatsoever!
I decided that I needed a little (or a lot) of assistance, as always I turned to my best pal Google and came across a website that looked ideal.
For those of us who have never entered the world of coding before, CodeMonkey is a web-based learning platform that offers a variety of computer programming courses and tools that bridge the gap between wanting to code and becoming an expert in the field.
The uniqueness of Code Monkey stems from the fact that the platform teaches children real text-based programming from day one in an easy and game-like manner.
The best part for us was that the courses are user-friendly and intuitive so kids can jump right into them without needing an introductory course or previous coding background, Phew!
The platform is web based and offers a variety of computer science courses and tools teaching coding through step-by-step tutorials within a number of levels, or challenges in a manner that budding coders as young as 8-years old can understand which was perfect for our daughter.
It would seem that as we steam on ahead into the 21st century, programming is increasingly becoming a critical layer of all our lives, as a home educating parent, I am always keen to make sure that we give the kids access to as wider knowledge of skills as we can.
There are many educational benefits to learning how to code.
As well as helping nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity, simultaneously they also develop skills in other areas too such as
- Multi-step thinking
